Our local park

Well the good weather is back, my garage roof has dried so out no more leaks and the insurance for the repair has been approved. Went along to see the final episode of Harry Potter in 3D, it was brilliant. Unfortunately I forgot my 3D specs so I had to buy some more to see the film. These specs are special Harry Potter 3D Specs and I love the rounded shape, they really suits me. Not the John Lennon thin wire specs but thick dark frames, sadly all the opticians are opting for squarish frames so I will have to keep looking. The film Australia with Hugh Jackman (very special guy) and Nicole Kidman (not to keen on her ) was on TV this month and I loved every minute even though I have seen it more than once. Its now on my machine forever along with Camelot, Titanic and Zivargo. Bought and downloaded my favourite singer/songwriter /pianist Peter Cincotti to my Kindle . I made a mistake in my last Blog I called it a Kimble because being my friends name I know it well.. Hahaha)
http://youtu.be/E70QgZrsONg  Peter Cincotti, go listen he is so wonderful

Shock and horror hearing about the massacre of the Norwegian children and the bomb blast that wrecked the city of Oslo. The fact that he was a white blue eyed blond national puts all the screening programmes for terrorist into the shade.

My best times are the beautiful early mornings when the sun is on the rise, I love to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet. My apples are ripening fast, the experts put it down to the unusual weather earlier in the year. The apples are usually on the tree till September but it looks like a premature harvest may be on the cards if I can find the time to pick, blanch and freeze most of them before they fall off and make a mess on my patio..

The Library closures are still being debated at Council level, but the Library where I volunteer has been told it will close in March 2012. I just hope they can still use me as I really do look forward to my Friday mornings helping folks gain confidence with computers.

Various environmental organisations are asking that we all plant more wild flowers in our gardens to attract butterflies and bees as they have been in sharp decline for the past few years due to the destruction of local hedgerows and meadows. This year our local parks have had the most colourful display of wild flowers I have ever seen so I just had to take some pictures. I am sure it will encourage others to spread more of these wildflower seeds next year.

Going on holiday soon, really looking forward to seeing my friends again. Take care and enjoy whats left of the summer.

Whitby

Whitby Harbour Entrance

It seems ages since I last wrote, time passes so fast these days it always seem that I am either waking up or going to sleep. Still being busy suits me, I would hate to be bored. Finished the crochet, its turned into a wonderful warm winter shawl for when I have to sit around reading and suchlike.   I am looking around to start something new because I enjoyed making it so much, I didn’t use a pattern just followed my own head and it has turned out good… . Rediscovered Tom Jones this month he still has a powerful voice and looks ok for 70  he always looks as though he enjoys singing his collaboration with Jools Holland is wonderful..

http://youtu.be/f-CPio5knno     Jools Holland and Tom Jones. Brilliant .
Bought a digital radio in preparation for when we all have to go digital, it is has a much better reception and there are many more stations to listen too, also bought a Kimble e-book.  I have been looking at them for a few months now and this new one gives access to the internet, plays my music and will read to me .. Down loaded The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to read on my holidays.  It has WIFI and 3G so I can download books/internet internationally anytime anywhere. Wow !
I enjoyed my day up in Slaidburn with Betty and Astrid again . Betty is a volunteer warden for the Youth Hostel in Slaidburn and Erby for a few weeks during the summer. Its feels good to relax and catch up, Astrid lives in Conwy, we where at school together and Betty is her childhood friend. I have known Betty from when I was involved with Speakers Club she is a good friend.

Looking over the Harbour  from Church  Steps

Had a wonderful time in Whitby with Dorothy, the weather was perfect, sunshine and sea breezes . We did everything boat ride, tour bus and trawling up and down the narrow alleyways and steep inclines, including climbing 199 steps up to St Mary’s Church. Whitby is steeped in Dracula Myths, famous for Whitby Jet and of course their fabulous Fish and Chips being a fishing port. We visited Flamborough Head Lighthouse before we took the motorway for home, fantastic coastal scenery....Arrived home to find my garage roof was leaking in two places so I have had to move fast and get someone to it before it costs me a small fortune to repair. Take care, love you .
